WhatsApp for Android adds Media visibility feature to provide control over downloaded media in phone gallery

WhatsApp for Android recently got many new updates like downloading your WhatsApp data report, lock feature in voice messages and re-download deleted media.
Now, with WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.18.194, WhatsApp has added new feature giving users an option to show or restrict downloaded media for a specific contact or group within phone's gallery.

This feature known as "Media visibility" was earlier available in beta version 2.18.159 which later got removed and with the latest version 2.18.194, it has been introduced again.

It often happens, when you just open your WhatsApp images or videos in the gallery, it looks flooded with lots of images which you don't even want to see. Also, sometimes there are private contents which you don't want others to see whenever they use your phone's gallery.

To enable Media Visibility, go to the contact chat or group chat whose media you wish to hide. Within the 3 menu dots available at the top right corner, go to "View contact". There you will find Media visibility option.

By default, Media visibility is set to Yes, i.e shows the downloaded media in the gallery. You can anytime select "No" to hide the media or "Yes" to show the media.

The latest version of the app is free to download at our marketplace and can also be installed from Google Play Store using the given-below link.
