Welcome Instagram lite, a lighter version of Instagram app

Instagram is soon launching Instagram lite, a light and slim down version of the Instagram app. Instagram made no formal announcement about the release of Instagram lite, which is now making a silent appearance in the Google Play Store. Like Facebook Lite, Instagram lite too is a small download and needs very less storage space in your phone leaving space for other useful apps.

The size of Instagram lite is just 573 kilobytes which is very less compared to the Instagram app for Android.
You can edit photos, watch and share photos to stories, search stories and videos on the Explore tab and follow accounts. As of now, you will not be able to share videos nor send direct messages to your friends.

Recently, Uber too launched a lighter version of Uber app, Uber lite, with just 5 MB download size. These light app versions work best for users facing low network connectivity issues or having less storage space in their device.

Instagram confirmed to TechCrunch about the launch of Instagram lite app firstly in Mexico this week, followed by the release in other countries.
At a recent event, Instagram announced reaching 1 billion active users worldwide. Instagram also announced its standalone app, "IGTV" to support hour long vertical videos.
