Google releases "Google Podcast" app for Android users with personalized recommendations

Before continuing to the article, let us quickly know what a Podcast is.
A Podcast is an episodic series of digital audio or video files which a user can download and listen to. Although it seems similar to Internet radio, it is personalized exactly to listeners preferences and podcasts can be streamed or downloaded on demand.

The term comes from a combination of the words iPod (a personal digital audio player made by Apple) and broadcasting. Even though the term is derived from the iPod, you don't need an iPod to listen to a podcast. You can use virtually any portable media player or your computer.

Google has released its own podcast app for Android, "Google Podcasts", integrated with the Google Assistant across all Android devices.
Google says, "Google Podcasts is designed to make it easier than ever for Android users to discover and listen to podcasts. We're also announcing a partnership with industry experts to improve diversity in podcast creation, and sharing a peek at how AI can help transform podcasting for the better."

Google Podcast uses AI to learn listeners preferences, such as interest in sports or podcasting from some specific networks and offers recommendations based on your listening habits.You can listen and subscribe to millions of podcasts, including popular shows like The Daily, Cyrus Says, Modern Love.

Initially, Google podcast is synchronized with Google Assistant, which means you can play or resume the podcast you were listening to in your Google Home.
It is expected to be available across other Google services in the coming weeks.

Google plans to add more new functionalities in its stand alone application, Google Podcast, like "Automatic Subtitling" that uses Speech-to-Text technology, which will be very helpful for hearing impaired users or when you are stuck in noisy area without headphones.
With "Google Translate", subtitles can then be made available in multiple languages.
